Dr. Ross Cochran retired from Harding in May 2024 having served as a member of the College of Bible and Ministry faculty for 38 years.
He graduated from Harding in 1979, from Harding Graduate School of Religion (now Harding School of Theology) in 1984, and from Boston College in 1994. He is the author of Not Off Limits: Questions You Wish You Could Ask at Church.
He served as a missionary in Limerick, Ireland, and on the ministry staff of churches in Memphis, Boston, and the Downtown Church in Searcy where he was also a shepherd from 2007-2021.
He directed Camp Tahkodah from 2004-2011, and presently serves on the boards for White County’s chapter of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and for Kibo Group’s Midnight Oil Coffeehouse.
Dr. Cochran received the Alpha Chi Faculty Award in 2000, the Petit Jean yearbook dedication in 1996 and 2017, and the Teacher Achievement Award in 1999, 2006 and 2024. As a three-time recipient, he is now recognized as a distinguished professor.
Ross has three children, Chris (and Caroline) of Oakland, CA, Allen of Breckenridge, CO, and Hannah of Denver, CO. He married Stephanie Howell in 2022 simultaneously acquiring two bonus daughters, Katherine (and Addison) of Dallas, TX, and Emma (and William) of Searcy.
His current writing projects are curriculum pieces constructed from the archives of Landon Saunders, the founder of Heartbeat.
