About
Kathy is a full professor and Director of Field in the Behavioral Sciences Department at Harding University in Searcy, AR. She has been teaching Social Work, Sociology, and Child Welfare classes since 1999.
Kathy was the co-founder and worked at the White County Children’s Safety Center in Searcy since 2008. Her responsibilities included: Community Outreach Coordinator, Forensic Interviewer, a contract Mental Health Professional Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) therapist as well as Clinical Director. She has conducted over 1,500 interviews. She is a state trainer for Arkansas Child First Forensic Interviewer Training. She is a charter member of the Arkansas Building Effective Services for Trauma (AR BEST) steering committee program developed through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This committee provides training and legislative support for children that have been sexually abused. She is a state expert for TF-CBT and co-facilitates consult calls for mental health professionals in the AR BEST program. She provided support and facilitation with the state wide dissemination of TF-CBT to Arkansas mental health providers that work with children of sexual abuse. She also provided support and facilitation with the state wide dissemination of Trauma Informed Care for front line DCFS workers and support staff. She is the author and provider of Trauma Informed Care for all DCFS Family Service Workers in the state of Arkansas.
